1980 – Present • 5 artworks
Harold Ancart is a Belgian-born contemporary artist based in New York, known for bold, colorful works that hover between painting, drawing, and sculpture. Born in Brussels in 1980, he often works in oil stick, building up vivid, waxy surfaces. His subjects tend to be simple and iconic, lone trees, icebergs, swimming pools, and flames, treated with a graphic punch and a sense of humor.
He has also made large public works, including a hand-painted concrete handball court in New York. His images feel at once playful and monumental, turning everyday things into striking, larger-than-life motifs. Ancart has built a strong international reputation, and his bright, confident works are held in major contemporary collections.
