Hermann Baisch

Hermann Baisch was a German painter known for landscapes and animal scenes. Born in 1846, he became associated with the art scene in Karlsruhe and was influenced by the French Barbizon painters, who worked directly from the countryside. He specialized in pastoral views, meadows, cattle, and the wide skies of the lowlands, painted with an eye for weather and natural light.

His calm rural scenes, often featuring grazing animals, were popular with collectors of his day. He was also a respected teacher of landscape painting. Baisch is remembered as a capable painter of the peaceful, atmospheric countryside in the tradition of nineteenth century German landscape art.
