Bob Ross

Bob Ross was an American painter and television host who taught millions of people that anyone can paint. Born in Florida in 1942, he served in the air force before developing a quick wet-on-wet oil technique that let him finish a landscape in a single sitting. On his warm, easygoing show The Joy of Painting, he created mountains, trees, and lakes while offering soothing encouragement.

His mellow voice, permed hair, and cheerful phrases like happy little trees turned him into a beloved cultural figure far beyond the art world.
