Conrad Schwiering

Conrad Schwiering was an American painter known for his landscapes of the Grand Teton mountains. Born in Nebraska in 1916 and raised in Wyoming, he settled near Jackson Hole, where he painted the dramatic peaks and changing skies of the Tetons for decades. He worked outdoors in all weather, chasing the light on snow, storm, and mountain.

His vigorous brushwork and feel for the moods of the high country made him a favorite among lovers of western American art. He treated the same mountains again and again, finding endless variety in their light and seasons. Schwiering's devoted, energetic records of the Tetons have secured his place among respected painters of the American West.
