Koloman Moser

Koloman Moser was an Austrian artist and designer and a key figure in the Vienna art scene around 1900. Born in Vienna in 1868, he helped found the Vienna Secession, a group of artists who broke away from the conservative establishment, and later co-founded the Wiener Werkstätte, a workshop that brought fine design to everyday objects. His reach ran from paintings and posters to furniture, glass, jewelry, and stamps.

His style is marked by clean geometry, flat pattern, and elegant simplicity, part of the broader move toward modern design. He believed art should shape all of daily life, not just hang on gallery walls. Though he died relatively young in 1918, Moser left a deep mark on graphic design and the decorative arts, and his influence is still felt today.
