Summer landscape with river course

A slow river winds through a Danish meadow, its still surface catching the reflections of trees and the pale clouded sky above. Peder Mørk Mønsted painted this scene, and he was one of Denmark's most skilled landscape painters, known for the almost photographic precision he brought to nature.
