Ecume 05

By Catherine de Potter, 2010

This atmospheric piece captures something between earth and sky, where natural elements seem to dissolve into each other. The artist has created a dreamlike landscape where rust-colored terrain meets billowing clouds or perhaps ocean foam, rendered in soft whites and blues. The textured surface suggests movement and transformation, as if we're witnessing a moment where solid ground turns to mist or waves crash against an unseen shore.

Catherine de Potter works with a contemporary abstract approach that draws inspiration from natural phenomena and organic processes. Her technique creates a sense of depth and mystery, inviting viewers to find their own interpretations in the swirling forms. The title "Ecume," meaning foam or froth in French, hints at the ephemeral quality of what we're seeing, whether it's sea spray, clouds, or something more ambiguous. There's something quietly meditative about this work, the way it hovers between recognition and abstraction.
